Morongo Valley’s rugged, beautiful high desert is the gateway to Joshua Tree National Park, where nearly 3 million visitors flock every year. It’s a place where tourism, recreation and hospitality typically drive the economy. But when the pandemic shut down travel in the spring of 2020, it all came to a screeching halt.
In December 2021, the pandemic-tempered classes became the first Chaffey nursing grads to attend an in-person graduation ceremony in three years. The event was also the first-ever nursing graduation in 115 cohorts to be livestreamed, with family and friends in attendance virtually around the country.
From first responders to the last line of cyber-defense, health care heroes to supply-chain superstars, career education was on the cutting-edge as California continued to battle a crisis. While 2020 was a year of adaptation for our colleges, 2021 was a year of innovation.
